The Panther Enthusiasts Club UK
Essex Area
Winter Break December 2005
The Essex area of the club, to beat the winter blues and break up the period of Panther inactivity, take themselves off on a "jolly" in November or December each year. This year we treated ourselves to a weekend of Motown and Soul at Gunton Hall just north of Lowestoft. We'd been here before so we knew what to expect and it didn't take us long to realise we were all "up for it". There wasn't a dull moment. From 3pm Friday to noon on Sunday it was all go. Day time entertainment included crown green bowling, swimming, snooker, quizses, archery and for the ladies pampering in the various beauty salons. In the evening there was an early disco, then the dancing to the guest band followed by the late disco. The highlight was the Jimmy James and he Vagabonds. We reckoned Jimmy James must be about 65, but both he and his band were excellent. His rich strong voice effortlessly pumped out Motown song after song. Once he came on, the floor was packed and it was to remain that way until he finished. AND --------IT SNOWED!
A few photographs of the weekend follow:
Evening meal time when we ................ |
built up strength for the evening to come |

Enjoying themselves over the weekend were: Wally & Val, Colin & Elaine, Derrick & Bryn, Tom & Doll, Cliff & Yvonne (I don't know how to spell Eveie) Roy & Jennifer, and Don & Margaret to whom our thanks go for once again organising such a great weekend.
Our thoughts were often with Steve and Trish who were unable to come because Steve was still recovering from a very recent "Op". I'm sure he nose we wish him well.
