Weekend at Fishponds Country Hotel April 2003

Back to Photo Albums

Just over a year prior to this article, the landlord of the pub where we hold our monthly meetings left to take up a new venture in Devon. This was a remote hotel leisure complex in the Black Down Hills near Honiton. He had always looked after us well at the pub and we vowed we would travel down a visit him in Devon. True to our word 15 members from our region plus the ubiquitous George and Shelagh, travelled to Honiton in our Panthers.

The weather was very unsettled but we were able travel hoods down for most of the weekend and enjoy motoring on the undulating Devon roads. Jim's (the landlord) hotel is called Fishponds Country Hotel. It is in a sheltered valley and as the name suggests it has a series of ponds which originally belonged to the local monks. It is and ideal venue for a club such as ours and no doubt we will  be there again next year, if he will have us!
